Bertheaume Fort
Discover Fort Bertheaume, built by Vauban in the 17th century. Situated on an islet that is now linked to the mainland by a footbridge, it offers plenty to satisfy lovers of history, culture and natural landscapes!
At the exit of the Rade de Brest, this 37-metre-high fort appears as if set against the intense blue of the Iroise Sea. It was built by the famous engineer Vauban to protect Brest during the War of the League of Augsburg.
The fort proved its importance over the centuries, even attracting German interest during the Second World War. Fort Bertheaume became one of the bases of the Atlantic Wall. In 1944, the island was liberated and its military functions were withdrawn. It has been open to the public since 1990.

- A 200m-long, 40m-high zip line over the Iroise Sea
- Caving ladder: a descent into the cave via a caving ladder
- A monkey bridge

- A Nepalese bridge
- If you want to relax and enjoy the superb scenery, there's a small beach just 150m from the fort.
