Discovering the village of Le Faou

village Le Faou Église Saint Sauveur
la Brasserie La Croisette salle
Chambre standard
During a stay in Brest, discovering the village of Le Faou is a must for an authentic and charming getaway.

Classified as a "Petite Cité de Caractère" (Small Town of Character), this village in Finistère captivates visitors with its remarkable heritage, its maritime atmosphere, and its privileged location at the gateway to the Crozon peninsula.

Easily accessible from our hotel, Le Barracuda & Spa, Le Faou makes for an ideal day trip.

Le Faou, a small town of character between land and sea

A former coastal port in the Brest harbor, Le Faou experienced significant growth in the 16th and 17th centuries thanks to maritime trade and timber from the nearby Cranou forest.

Today, the village has preserved an exceptional architectural heritage, which has earned it the "Petite Cité de Caractère" designation.

Strolling along the main street and around the Place aux Foires, you'll discover a beautiful succession of half-timbered houses, most dating from the 16th century.

These facades, topped with finely crafted slate, make Le Faou one of the few Breton towns to have preserved such an architectural ensemble.

A remarkable heritage to discover along the way

Le Faou is easily explored on foot. Facing the port, the Church of Saint-Sauveur, built in the 16th century, marks the entrance to the town with its Renaissance bell tower and its spectacular location at the head of the Steir Goz estuary.

Along the Quélen quays, the promenade offers beautiful views of the port and the harbor, inviting you to relax amidst a maritime setting.

During the season, the Maison de Pays (local history center), dating from the 16th and 18th centuries, is an excellent starting point for understanding local history before continuing your visit through the old streets.

A gateway to the Crozon peninsula and the Breton countryside

Le Faou is also considered the gateway to the Crozon peninsula and the Armorique Regional Natural Park.

A few kilometers away, visitors can reach the Cranou state forest, a vast natural area ideal for walks and hikes, or take the famous GR34, the coastal path, which runs along the Breton coast.

This prime location allows you to combine heritage discovery, walks in nature, and coastal exploration, all in one day.
