The 70.8 museum in Brest
Located in the Ateliers des Capucins in Brest, the 70.8 museum is a must-see if you are passionate about the sea and maritime innovation.
Opened in 2021, it is named 70.8, because it is the percentage of oceans that cover the surface of the Earth.
This unique scientific museum allows you to study the sea to better understand it through 6 themes and a fun and interactive tour.
The museum is arranged on three levels according to three themes.
You will be able to study subjects such as marine biotechnologies, deep-sea exploration, naval innovations or even marine renewable energies.
For example, you will discover that marine molecules are present every day in our cupboards or on our plates.
Each space is designed to raise your awareness of environmental and technological issues related to the sea.
Throughout your visit to the museum, you will be invited to participate in workshops, handle objects and attend scientific demonstrations.
For example, the ships of the future will no longer hold any secrets for you.
The museum also offers guided tours led by a scientific mediator or connected tours via a mobile application. The latter includes both audio guidance and a game accessible from the age of 7 for children.
